Umbrella strollers are all the range for parents who want lightweight, convenient travel options. They’re super easy to bring on planes, trains and buses, and they’re just plain nicer to use in most cases. When you start toting two little ones around, though, things get more complicated. This Delta model is our cheapest recommendation for a double umbrella stroller. We think it’s the lowest you can go without sacrificing safety or dealing with crappy, inconvenient designs. The Delta is the lightest of our recommendations in this guide. While that does mean it’s less sturdy, it also means it’s super light to carry around!
You won’t find many extras or conveniences on the Delta, but it ticks all the boxes for a high-quality double umbrella stroller. It can hold two kids up to 35 pounds each (and doesn’t feel like it’ll collapse under them). It fits through standard doorways, meets all the relevant safety standards, and has a relatively convenient folding mechanism.
Spend more if you want a higher weight limit and more conveniences, though.
Kolcraft’s Cloud is a perfect midrange option for parents who want a compromise between cost and convenience. It’s still a deal cheaper than the Evenflo, but it offers more amenities than the Delta Children. It’s also sturdier, even though it has the same weight rating.
What do you get for your extra dollar? Well, the seats recline independently, for one thing. The seat backs roll up and down for simple, clever climate control. We also love the amount of thought that’s gone into this design, especially for something that’s not even in the premium range. The biggest difference is the canopies. The Kolcraft has much better sun coverage than the Delta Children.
The Evenflo is better-made and has more amenities, though. The Evenflo is also slightly narrower, so it’s easier to fit through doorways. If you can afford it, we think it’s worth the top-dollar price tag.
The Evenflo Minno is a premium double umbrella stroller and our top quality recommendation to anyone who can afford it. While it costs significantly more than the Delta Children or the Kolcraft, you’ll end up with a more ergonomic, comfortable, and convenient stroller that totally earns its keep. The folding mechanism is particularly good, as is the wide range of adjustments to suit growing bodies.
The Evenflo Minno also has the highest weight rating of our recommendations in this category. As far as we know, it’s the most capable double umbrella stroller on the market! It can carry two kids as large as 45 pounds each. Assuming you’re using it with younger kids, it offers tons of room to grow. It’ll cost you more up front, but you’ll get a longer life out of it than you would the Delta Children or Kolcraft.
Which of these double umbrella strollers should you buy?
The Delta Children is the obvious choice if you’re on a tight budget. It’s the cheapest of the three by a decent amount, but still provides all the basics you need in a double umbrella stroller. It’s lightweight, relatively convenient, and much sturdier than the other affordable options. You’ll find a lot more conveniences and better overall build quality if you spend more, though.
The Kolcraft Cloud is a nice compromise between affordability and conveniences. It has a few more amenities than the Delta Children while staying around $50 cheaper than the Evenflo. The Evenflo offers a much higher weight limit, though, and it’s simply nicer overall.
The Evenflo Minno is our recommendation to anyone who can afford it. It’s the heaviest of the three, but it’s extremely well-made and packed with conveniences that we think justify the extra expenditure. It’s very comfortable, it’s impeccably designed, and as good as you’ll get in this category. If we were to choose only one model for the title of best double umbrella stroller, we’d have to say our pick would be the Kolcraft Cloud Side-By-Side Double Umbrella Stroller thanks to its perfect blend of convenience and great value.
Check Weight Ratings
As with any stroller, you should check the weight and height ratings before you buy a double umbrella model. Weight ratings are especially important with these, though, since they’re so lightweight. Be sure your new stroller can handle the weight of the two kids who will be using it, and leave some room to grow! Because umbrella-style strollers tend to have lower weight ratings, they aren’t so good for older/larger kids.
There are lots of reasons to invest in a high-quality stroller, but safety is the key one when it comes to double umbrella models. Plenty of single umbrella strollers are iffy when it comes to supporting the weight of just one child, so it’s no wonder that a lot of double models aren’t as sturdy as we’d like. Don’t plan on anything under $75 being safe. Cheaper models are just plain risky. Even if they work a few times, they’ll fall apart quickly.
Decide On Your Budget
Now that we’ve encouraged you to spend a bit more on something safe and high-quality, give some thought to how much you can afford to spend. Decent double umbrella strollers can be found as low as $75, but the nicest models will cost you twice that. We’d encourage you to spend as much as you’re able, because premium models are so much more convenient to use. They should also last longer.
