Epilating is one of the most thorough, long-lasting ways to remove body hair at home. However, it’s traditionally been quite painful. Clarification
If you’ve read our main guide to epilators, you may have noticed that the models we recommend on that page are the same that we’ve recommended below. There’s a good reason for that! Frankly, we don’t think an epilator is any good if you can’t use it around the bikini area. After all, that’s one of the most important areas to maintain! We don’t think there’s any point buying an epilator that you can’t use around your nether regions. So, if you’ve read our main buying guide, you probably have a good sense of these models already. Feel free to go ahead and click on the links in our reviews if you think you’ve found your new workhorse. Or, read on to learn more about these models from the perspective of bikini maintenance!

What’s the Best Epilator for Brazilian and Bikini Area?
Braun Silk-epil 3 Epilator
“I think the Silk-epil 3 is an excellent first epilator, or a budget workhorse for ladies on a tight budget. It gets the job done relatively painlessly, even if it isn’t as efficient or convenient as the pricier Braun models. Just don’t try and use this on finer hair types, especially facial fuzz. Stick to pubic hair and thicker body hair types and you’ll be good as gold!”
Braun’s Silk-epil 3 is the least expensive epilator we recommend for any application. It’s a very affordable way to get into Braun’s excellent Silk-epil series. As far as we’re concerned, Braun is making far and away the best epilators available right now! The Silk-epil 3 is a simple, effective epilator for ladies who just want to get the job done. It doesn’t have many frills, but it works well on pubic hair as well as in other areas.
With a 20-tweezer epilating head, the Silk-epil 3 does an excellent job grabbing pubic hairs. It pulls them out by the root, rather than breaking them off like so many other inexpensive epilators. This is one area where Braun is still way ahead of the competition! With other brands, you typically end up breaking a lot of your pubic hairs, and then having to go over and over the area to try and finish the job. Ugh! This one’s powerful enough to grab them in one go.
There are a few conveniences, too. Even though you’ll save lots of money by choosing the 3, you don’t have to ditch all the frills! There’s a light to help you see hairs (very handy around the crotch), and two speed settings. These are helpful for you to be able to choose your experience: fast and more intense, or slower but less aggressive. The epilating head also features some basic massage rollers.
Of course, you always have to make some sacrifices when you choose a budget model like this. Overall, the Silk-epil 3 is less efficient than the 7 or the 9. It has the smallest head, so it takes longer to cover your entire bikini area. There are also fewer tweezers in the epilating head, which means that the 3 doesn’t always get every hair in a single pass. It’s not something you should plan to use on facial hair, either.
The Silk-epil 3 is corded, so you need to use it near an outlet. Most of us epilate in the bathroom, so that may limit your options. The other downside of corded epilators is that you can’t get them wet. The Silk-epil can’t be used in the shower, or before you’ve toweled off. If you like to epilate in the shower or while wet (and many of us find that more comfortable), you should spend more for the 7 or the 9! You’ll also find that waterproof models are easier to clean, since you can simply rinse them off.
Braun Silk-epil 7 Epilator
“The Braun Silk-epil 7 is the model I recommend to the vast majority of our readers here on WifeKnows! As far as I’m concerned, it has the best balance of affordability and convenience out there. The Silk-epil 9 is certainly better, but this is much more budget-friendly. It’s cordless, waterproof, and highly efficient: everything I look for in an epilator! It’s perfect for bikini maintenance as well as everywhere else.”
Braun’s Silk-epil 7 is an excellent midrange epilator for the entire body. Unlike the 3, you can use the 7 absolutely anywhere. It has the strength to handle pubic hairs with no issues, while having the finesse to remove facial hairs too! We suggest it to the average buyer who wants something versatile and convenient without spending a fortune.
The most noticeable difference between the 3 and the 7 in the epilation department is the 7’s efficiency. It packs more tweezers in the same size head, which means that it’s more thorough with each pass. Not only does it grab more hairs in one go, but the fine-toothed approach means it doesn’t leave fine hairs behind! That’s why you can use this one for your face as well as for body hair.
The other significant difference between the Silk-epil 3 and the Silk-epil 7 is that the 7 is cordless! That’s a massive upgrade in the convenience department, for obvious reasons. Since most people don’t have a whole lot of outlets in the bathroom to begin with, being able to epilate absolutely anywhere is very freeing. Plus, going cordless means you also get waterproofing! The Silk-epil 7 works for both wet/dry epilating! A lot of ladies find that epilating while your skin and body hair are wet is more comfortable. Anything you can do to decrease the discomfort around your bikini area is always a good idea, so the benefits are
The value factor is another thing that we love about the 7. It includes massage rollers to relax you before and during epilation. There are also detailing caps which make it easier to work in tight spots like the armpit and between your legs. You get a trimmer head, just like the 3, but the 8 also comes with a bonus detailing trimmer that’s a separate tool. It’s perfect for tight spots and can be used both as a way to prep for epilation and as an alternative for any areas you don’t want to pluck.
While it’s certainly pricier than the Silk-epil 3, the Silk-epil 7 still manages to be a lot more affordable than the 9. Its reasonable price point, as well as its excellent performance overall, is why we recommend the 7 to most buyers!
Braun Silk-epil 9 Epilator
“Braun’s Silk-epil 9 is by far and away the best thing on the market right now. It’s the most efficient, enjoyable, and convenient epilator I’ve ever reviewed. Sure, you’ll pay a premium to get one. I still think that it’s more than worth the price, since it allows you to spend less time epilating sensitive areas. You’ll notice how fine-tuned it is when you use it on your bikini zone, but you can use it absolutely anywhere on your body.”
The Silk-epil 9 is the latest, greatest thing from the leading manufacturer of epilators. It keeps the best bits of the 7 while improving the platform further. As far as we’re concerned, it absolutely smokes anything else on the market for efficiency and comfort–the two factors that make the biggest difference when you’re getting yourself shipshape downstairs.
Like the 7, the 9 is cordless and waterproof. You can use it wherever you please, even in the shower. It also comes with a similar set of interchangeable heads. You can use them to narrow or widen the epilating head as you need for different areas of the body, or swap the whole epilating head out for a trimmer instead. All in all, it’s quite similar to the 7.
One difference you’ll notice out of the box is that the 9 doesn’t come with the 7’s extra detailing trimmer. Instead, it adds exfoliating brush attachments. You should never buy an epilator because of the accessories it’s sold with, but in this case we think the 9 is slightly better. Most of us are going to use the trimmer head anyway, and with a detailing cap it’s pretty easy to navigate around the bikini area. You don’t really need a separate trimmer. On the other hand, the exfoliating brushes are very helpful in preventing ingrown hairs when you epilate.
The biggest difference with the 9 is that the epilating head is significantly larger. Not only does it have a high-density tweezer array, but it simply covers more ground at once. Let’s face it–no epilator is exactly blissful to use around your crotch, so the speedier you can get your work done, the better you’ll feel.
This one is not only the best at grabbing every hair in one pass, but it makes itself the most pleasant to use by simply covering ground more efficiently. The less time you spend epilating, the more pleasant you’ll find the experience! Nowhere is that more true than with the Silk-epil 9.
You can use it anywhere on your body. Not only does it do a great job yanking pubes without breaking them, but it has the fine-toothed precision to take care of facial hair as well. It’s truly the ultimate epilator for any application. Sure, we’re still crossing our fingers that someone will invent a completely painless epilator that doesn’t leave your bikini zone smarting, but this is by far the best we’ve come across to date.
Philips Satinelle Essential HP6401 Compact Hair Removal Epilator
“The Philips Satinelle Essential HP6401 model is highly recommended for people on a tight budget. This just proves that epilators need not break the bank. It is one of the best ones in the market in terms of price and ergonomic design. Using it is a cinch due to its design that allows you to effortlessly have a grip on it while it does its work on your delicate areas”.
This epilator from Philips is one of the most affordable ones you can find in the market today. But despite the comparatively accessible price tag, it delivers great epilating results. In just 5 minutes, you can successfully and effectively get rid of hair in your bikini line.
One thing that is remarkable about this is its ability to get rid of even up to 0.5mm of hair from the root – great for seeing the best and most thorough results or ideal for maintaining a wax and making the results last longer.
Each of these epilators contain 21 tweezers for effective removal. You can be assured that nothing will be missed. And with an efficiency cap, you can use this comfortably in your delicate area without the fear of accidentally nicking your skin.
The compact and ergonomic design makes way for faultless and comfortable removal of pubic hair. It is easier to hold, even when your hands are wet. After use, simply put it under running water to get rid of hair.
One of the reasons why a lot of customers rave about this is because of how bump-free it makes the skin. Unlike other methods of hair removal that tends to leave unsightly bumps, this does not. It also makes the skin soft. Redness on the skin is minimal and should be gone in a day or two. Customers also did not have issues using products the next day when used on areas such as the underarms or the legs.
Of course, being an inexpensive choice, it still has a few downsides, one of them being the noise. Customers said it is quite noisy but not too noisy that it will disturb the people sleeping outside your bedroom. All in all, it is a fairly good epilator for its price.
Panasonic ES-ED90-P Wet/Dry Epilator and Shaver
“The Panasonic ES-ED90-P allows you to save more time with removing unwanted bikini hair with the many rotating tweezers this one has. It is more expensive than others, but it gets the job done faster and it comes with different attachment heads as well. If you are looking for an epilator that can also double as a shaver, get this.”
The Panasonic ES-ED90-P is a premium epilator with premium result. Don’t let the high price tag scare you away because this epilator produces the best results. It features dual wide discs and 48 rotating tweezers. Never miss a spot, thanks to its high quantity tweezers that pulls off even the smallest hair from the roots with little to no discomforts.
Use the gentle epilation cap on your bikini area to reduce trauma to your delicate skin. This makes way for a gentler removal of hair.
One of the things that set this epilator apart is its many attachments. It comes with not one, not two, but 6 different attachments to prevent the care and grooming you need. It comes with a shaver head, a gentile epilator head, epilator gentile cap, pedicure buffer, bikini comb and dual disc epilator head.
Save time with its many rotating tweezers that effectively remove the hair from your delicate area. The design is also strategic. It can pivot forward to a 30-degree angle and backward to another 30-degree angle. You also have a hand in going as fast or as slow as you can with its dual speed modes. It is completely waterproof, makes use of hypoallergenic stainless-steel blades and has a built-in LED light.
What makes this a wonderful option for many users is its ability to pull out different types of hair. So, whether you have fine hair, thick hair or wispy hair, this will work. It does, however, come with some drawbacks. Some said this epilator can inflict a higher degree of pain compared to others but that’s essentially the drawback of epilating.
Emjoi AP-18 Emagine Dual Opposed 72 Tweezer Head Epilator
“The Emojoi AP-18 Emagine Dual Opposed 72 Tweezer Head Epilator has the most number of tweezer heads incorporated. It gets the job done faster than other epilators out there and leaves a smoother skin behind. Get this if you want the cleanest epilating experience and you can’t be bothered with too much epilating time.”
If you think you have seen everything there is to see about epilators, check out this one. It has 72 tweezers head that should remove hair faster than many standard epilators out there. Its patented Glide Technology allows for more seamless and painless removal of pubic hair.
One remarkable feature you can find in this tweezer head is its silver ion technology, a technology that offers antimicrobial protection. Say goodbye to infections or irritation brought about by the existence of microbes.
The dual opposed staggered heads allow this epilator to run over more surface area. It also makes sure no ingrown hair will grow.
No need to grapple with this epilator because it has an ergonomic design and a user-friendly operation that allow for seamless removal of pubic hair. The 30-day money-back guarantee also gives more peace of mind.
It comes with a brush though, which means you can’t just wash it with water. You need the brush to completely remove hair.
Alice’s Buying Advice
We’ve recommended several different epilator models for maintaining your bikini area. So, which should you actually buy?
If you’re on a tight budget, the Silk-epil 3 is a very reasonable option. I think it covers all the basics for removing hair around the bikini zone. It’s efficient, relatively painless, and quite reliable. However, it doesn’t do a good job on fine facial hair, so it’s not an all-purpose epilator. I’d also encourage buyers not to underestimate the convenience of a cordless wet/dry model! Though the 3 is an excellent first epilator for pubic hair, it probably won’t be your last epilator.
If you want to have one epilator to use absolutely everywhere on your body, choose the 7 or the 9. They do much better on fine facial hair than the 3. They’re also simply more pleasant to use. Since they have more tweezers squeezed into their epilating heads, they tend to take everything in one pass. They get the job done more quickly, which is super important around sensitive areas!
Looking at the 7 and the 9 side-by-side, I’d say that the Silk-epil 7 is the best buy for most ladies. It’s cheaper by a long shot but keeps most of the conveniences of the 9. Still, if you can afford the 9, it’s undoubtedly a better epilator! I know that you probably won’t use the full-size epilating head around your bikini areas, but it’s a huge timesaver when it comes to your legs! While all the models we’ve suggested will get the job done, we think the best epilator for pubic hair has to be the Braun Silk-epil 7 thanks to its wet/dry functionality and reasonable price tag.
