Jogging strollers are the ideal solution for active parents who want to exercise with their kids. The best jogging strollers allow you to take kids along on the path or trail, keeping them both safe and comfortable at high speeds. It can be hard to figure out which models those are, though. There are just as many that are bulky, annoying, and even life-threatening to your child.
We’ve asked our resident stroller expert, Jenny L. Brown, to comb the market for the best jogging strollers available. She’s chosen three different models to recommend to you, which you’ll find below. She’s also thrown in some helpful buying advice to assist with your decision.

Best Jogging Stroller Reviews
Baby Trend Xcel Jogger Stroller
“The Baby Trend Xcel is the least expensive jogging stroller I recommend. As far as I’m concerned, it’s the cheapest you can buy and rely on to keep your child safe. Anything less expensive is going to be rickety garbage. The Baby Trend might be basic and relatively lightly-built, but it’s a good place to start if you’ve never jogged with a stroller before.
For such an inexpensive jogging stroller, the Baby Trend is refreshingly versatile. It works with Baby Trend car seats to create a travel system. It also includes all the essentials, even though there aren’t many frills. There’s a reclining seat, adjustable sunshade, 5-point harness and cupholders for you and your child. For jogging, it has jumbo tires and basic suspension.
There are a number of safety essentials that set this apart from the rest of the inexpensive options. The front wheel swivels for day-to-day use, but locks for jogging, just like more expensive models. It’s JPMA-certified with a durable steel frame and reflectors to keep you safe in lower-light conditions.
Having said all that, the Baby Trend isn’t the most rugged or reliable thing on the market. The Thule and BOB are much hardier over the long term–especially if you jog frequently. I think this is a perfectly good first jogging stroller. If you’re more experienced and know you’re committed to jogging with your child, you should probably invest in the Thule or BOB.”
Thule Urban Glide 2.0 Jogging Stroller
“Thule’s Urban Glide 2.0 is a higher-end jogging stroller ideal for regular joggers who stick to pavement and cement. It’s not rugged enough for off-road adventures, but it’s the perfect solution for parents who don’t plan on leaving smooth surfaces.
The Thule is much more rugged than the Baby Trend, and it has an impeccable reliability record. That’s mostly thanks to the sturdier frame, but all the smaller components are also better-made. The wheels never jam and everything from the axles to the bolts are thicker and better-engineered than budget models.
There are also a lot of added features and conveniences to justify spending the extra cash to get this instead of the Baby Trend. The Thule has excellent handbrakes, an adjustable handlebar, a more enveloping sunshade and a one-handed recline mechanism on the seat. The suspension smoothes out the ride a lot better than the cheaper model, too.
My favorite thing about it is how compactly it folds for transport and storage. It’s the best on the market in that department, though I do prefer BOB’s mechanism over Thule’s. Also very impressive is the fact that the Thule holds up to 75 pounds–25 more than the Baby Trend! It offers the longest working life of any jogging stroller on the market, thanks to that! Of course, most of us don’t actually want to be pushing 75 pounds in front of us as we jog, but ambitious parents will have all the challenge they like!
This is as nice a jogging stroller as most people need, in my opinion. The only caveat is that the Urban Glider 2.0 is just what it sounds like: a jogging stroller for urban areas. The BOB is a much better choice if you want to be able to go on gravel and dirt paths.”
BOB Revolution PRO Jogging Stroller
“BOB’s Revolution PRO is at the top of my jogging stroller recommendations for a number of reasons. It’s the most rugged I’ve ever reviewed, as well as the smartest overall design. It’s well-equipped, well-executed, and quite frankly a phenomenal stroller even without all its jogging credentials. I recommend this to anyone who can afford it, since it offers you a lot more freedom than the Thule. You can jog safely and easily on any terrain with the BOB.
While the Thule is sleek, it can only help you out on pavement and concrete. Not the BOB! It has big tires with some serious traction that can tackle gravel and dirt paths as well as grass and sand. They’re backed up by an extremely rugged frame and full mountain-bike suspension. It does an excellent job keeping kids comfortable while you take them on an adventure!
Beyond the all-terrain handling and rock-solid build quality, the BOB justifies its high price tag with all manner of features and conveniences. It has all the amenities you could want, plus a fantastic folding mechanism that’s one of the best on the market. It can even compare favorably to a lot of lightweight strollers!
This isn’t a perfect stroller, though it comes close. It’s bulkier than the Thule and heavier as well. That’s the downside of all-terrain capability. I think it’s a small price to pay for a set of wheels that can go practically anywhere with you and your little one!”
Conclusion
Now that you’ve had a closer look at all our recommendations, which should you buy to take your child jogging?
The Baby Trend is the jogging stroller to choose if you’re on a tighter budget. It’s significantly less expensive than our other recommendations. This is the least you can pay for a safe, reliable jogging stroller than handles decently. However, if you can afford to spend more, the Thule and BOB are significantly sturdier and better-equipped. While this might be a good first jogging stroller to choose, it probably won’t be the last you buy.
The Thule is a good midrange choice for parents who want something more convenient and more resilient than the Baby Trend without shelling out for the top-notch BOB. It’s probably as much as you need to spend if you’re not planning on going off-piste. If you’re planning to jog through parks on trails that aren’t paved, though, you should spend a bit more to get the BOB.
The BOB Revolution PRO is the best choice for jogging off pavement and concrete. It’s by far the best on rough and mixed terrain, and its superb handling and suspension make it the best overall on any surface. We recommend it to anyone who can afford it and be sure they’ll get their money’s worth. If you don’t ever plan to leave the pavement, though, you may want to save some money and weight by sticking with the Thule. We’re impressed by all of the models we’ve recommended here, but overall we think the Baby Trend Xcel Jogger Stroller is the best jogging stroller thanks to its light build and low price.
